About The School
Since 1991, Chapel Hill/Carrboro Tae Kwon Do has been affiliated with USA Tae Kwon Do, the US representative of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Based in Korea, the WTF was responsible for the inclusion of Tae Kwon Do as an official Olympic sport as of the Sydney Games in 2000.
CHCTKD students train in Olympic-style sparring and practice the Taeguek forms. All students study every aspect of the art.
CHCTKD makes a commitment to providing students with a well-balanced training regime, including poomse (forms), basics, sparring and self-defense. Addressing a diverse range of needs, this approach builds the confidence, self-control and focus of the individual, while also cultivating an inclusive community committed to meeting the needs of each student.

Classes:
Students tailor a training program that fits their lifestyle: Day and evening classes are offered six days a week, along with unlimited attendance. Children under the age of 12 attend separate classes. In keeping with traditional Tae Kwon Do instruction, each class includes meditation, a thorough warm-up, stretching, and more intense drills.
Students are encouraged to attend class regularly (at least two or three times a week), as this is the minimum level of attendance needed for students to acquire and retain skills. Please see the online schedule for convenient times or call (919) 933-7778 for more information.

Chapel Hill/Carrboro TKD offers competition
training in addition to our regular class schedule.
These workouts are open to those interested in competing on
the regional, state, and national level. Competition
training focuses more intensely on sparring techniques and
ring management, as well as an increased emphasis on aerobic
and anaerobic fitness. Under Master Whittier’s
instruction, CHCTKD has produced several National Level Medalists.
